Or is that bullsh*t? Let's find out 👇

Hey there Greenblasters.

I have a very simple question for you this week:

Can you change your life with PUBLIC SPEAKING?

Or, more to the point:

Can learning to be a better public speaker change your life?

I’d like to convince you of this fact by sharing a story, and invite you to my workshop next month if you’ve been convinced:

Still not sure? On to the story:

Meet Mark:

Mark, a tradesman-turned-entrepreneur, very kindly allowed me to share his story after attending one of my seminars.

Here’s an excerpt from his email to me:

“The seminar was absolutely life-changing for me.

I’ve developed a new sense of confidence when it comes to delivering an idea to a larger group of people. Truly 10/10.”

Well, there we go! Question answered, right? A public speaking workshop CAN change your life!

Not so fast:

It’s easy to SAY something “changed my life.”

I’ve said that about books, movies, vacations, even multiple baskets of chicken wings.

Ok, now I want wings. And it’s 10:45 am. Fuck.

But here’s a follow-up email I got from Mark:

“Just to update you on my public speaking journey:

I attended this event called SpeakerSlam and I was randomly selected to give an improvised talk!”

I asked him how it went, and he shared this (it’s just 20 secs):

This is a PHENOMENAL job for a newbie speaker. Think about this:

  • Mark is not prepared to speak

  • He’s only ever spoken ONCE before (at a goddam public speaking workshop ffs)

  • He’s at an event of professional speakers and industry peeps

  • AND he wins the crowd over RIGHT away with humour and authenticity even though he’s clearly nervous

But that’s not the most impressive part. This is: (warning, it’s heavy)

What a brave guy. I was so moved by this. As someone who’s been through grief myself, I can only watch in awe at his ability to share like this.

THIS is what conquering stage fright and sharing your story with the world looks like. And this is what Mark said to me about it:

“I had a lot of doubt surrounding my anxiety talking in front of people, however the experience helped me get over said fear and the pointers you gave helped a ton!”

He’s starting his entrepreneurial journey by conquering his fear of public speaking and learning to share his story. There is no better way.

So happy for and proud of this dude.

Now:

YOU don’t have to talk about your most recent and painful losses if you don’t want to.

You don’t have to get up at professional events and give an improvised talks.

But you DO have a story to share with the world. And I would argue, if you want to have any success and make any kind of positive impact on the world…

You HAVE to share it.

Come to my workshop next Thursday (if you’re a startup founder in Toronto).

It’s gonna be “lit” as the kids say.

OR SHARE this email with any STARTUP FOUNDER or ENTREPRENEUR you know.

That’s it!!

Final word:

Mark was nervous. Mark overcame his fear of public speaking. Mark is changing his life.

Be like Mark. đź‘Ź

Hope to see ya there 🚀
