Nice to be in your inbox again.

I’ve got 2 pieces of news this week:

News-piece the 1st:

I’m competing at SPEAKER SLAM next month!

Nine lovely, awesome people, and me will be competing March 26th.

Speaker Slam, for those of you who don’t know, is a public speaking competition in Canada run by Dan Shaikh and Rina Rovinelli.

It’s “North America’s largest inspirational speaking competition.” This is the .

So, as a public speaking coach for entrepreneurs, why am I participating a competition for inspirational stories?

Well, lemme tell ya:

a) So I can get a well-shot video of myself speaking onstage for marketing purposes

b) To push myself out of my comfort zone as a speaker, which I always tell my clients to do, so I’d better know what the fuck I’m asking of them

c) Most importantly, I have a deadline / excuse to WRITE MY STORY and SHARE IT with the world

I can’t stress the importance of this last point enough.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the future recently.

I’m betting that:

As more and more jobs are automated away, our value as individuals will lie in our stories.

I’ll repeat that:

Our value as individuals lies in our stories.

As technical skills become easier to outsource to robots, employers and customers will increasingly need generalists rather than specialists.

And generalists are only as well-rounded as their life experience.

Life experience = YOUR STORY.

You NEED to learn to tell your story to the world in order to stand out, make people remember you, and want to work with you.

I will keep yelling this at the cyberspace sky like a crazy old man until my fingers are tired and my voice is hoarse.

Now, I have 3 questions for you:

  1. Do you want to learn to tell your story with confidence?

  2. Are you an entrepreneur?

  3. Do you live in the Greater Toronto Area (or the “GTA”)?

This brings us to:

News-piece the 2nd:

If you’re on my list, and you’re not my cousin Sam*, then check out my workshop at OneEleven on February 22nd:

In this workshop, we’ll cover:

  • A quick story to set the stage,

  • A 5-minute warm-up routine (breathing exercises, vocal warm-ups, and even some tongue twisters)

  • Finally, a Q&A / Ask Me Anything for all your communication-related questions

I try not to ask too much of you guys, but for today, PLEASE:

  • book your spot at the workshop if interested
