"What should I speak about?"
The Aspiring Speaker's Struggle (ASS for short)
Hey Gb’ers!!
That’s “Greenblasters” for my newer subscribers. That’s what you are now, by reading this newsletter, like it or not. But so glad to have you!

Strap yourselves in for a fun one, because:
Today, we’re talking about ASS.
That’s right:
Aspiring Speaker’s Struggle.
The Aspiring Speaker’s Struggle (ASS) is a common sticking point I hear from newer and aspiring speakers:
“I want to speak on stages, and I know I have a message to share with the world, I just don’t know exactly what it is yet.”
Believe it or not, even established speakers feel this way too.
I’ve been speaking for 8 years, and I’m still experimenting with:
defining my topics (Is it “Leadership”? “Storytelling?” “Change management”, whatever the fuck that is??)
refining my talk titles (I want it to be clear, but also clever, but also valuable, but also unique…)
and tweaking the actual content I share in my talks:

My last workshop had 51 slides, but I usually only speak to half of them. The rest are there for Q&A’s if needed.
BUT:
Because I’ve spoken over 250 times by now, virtually & in person, I know more or less what value I can bring to an audience, and feel confident in that.
SO:
I’m gonna give you a list of questions to uncover “the mountain of value you’re already standing on” as Daniel Priestly likes to say, and get rid of ASS once and for good.
Copy & paste the list below into Word, and spend some time writing down the answers, but do it AS IF YOU WERE YOUR MOST SUPPORTIVE FRIEND!
No modesty, false or otherwise, allowed here. Hype yourself up, and be real.
Now, the 7 ASS questions:
What are some of the most common compliments you get? Work-related and personal? These can be individual words or phrases.
How much money have you been responsible for making, either for yourself or helped make other organizations? (Be honest, but calculate the total, not just what you we’re directly responsible for.)
What’s something that you do every day or week that really helps you be productive, happy, healthy, or wealthy?
What processes do you have in your business that seem obvious, but you couldn’t live without? Can you teach these to others?
What have you always been obsessed with, and why do you think it’s so important to you?
What is a) part of your background, b) a skill you have, and c) a quirk of yours that can combine into something unique and special? (See Ingrid Lill’s Greatness Diagram for more info, I love this framework).
And finally:
How can the experiences that have transformed your life be conveyed to an audience yearning for the same transformation?
(E.g. healing from trauma, getting into shape, becoming wealthy, scaling a business, finding peace, starting a family, whatever it is, it’s valid as long as someone else wants it!)

I’ve seen millionaire monks speak on corporate stages about inner peace. Food for thought.
NOW:
I have a very special offer, should you choose to accept it:
The first 5 people to send me their answers, will get a free review from me to help them turn it into a Signature Workshop talk description!
Reply to this email with “ME” and I’ll send you more info!
