Wtf is a "CTA"?
How to stop leaving $$ on the table at the end of your talks
Yo Greenblasters!!
Last week, we talked about the importance of ending your talk with a BANG with a good closer.
This week, we’re going to look at what comes BEFORE the closer in my Signature Workshop Structure, which is:
The CTA.

Now, back to today’s topic:
What’s a CTA, Will?
If you don’t know, a CTA or “call to action” is what you say at the end of a talk, workshop, online video etc. to make sure interested people know how to follow up with you.
It can be a simple as saying: “If you’re interested in learning more about this work, I’ll be hanging around after this, please come and talk to me.”

Don’t run away after your talk! . (Photo by Cytonn Photography on Unsplash)
OR your CTA can be as sophisticated as:
creating a QR code,
which you show them on your slides,
which takes them to a 2-min survey
which you give them time to complete right away,
which allows them to enter their contact info,
opt in or out to being contacted by you,
indicating if they have any leads for you,
and receive a free download.
(All of which is automated with Talkadot. Use my link to sign up here.)
Way too many speakers forget about any kind of CTA, which means they lose potential “stageside leads” because no one in the audience knows how to stay in touch.
BTW:
Stageside leads are often the most lucrative part about speaking onstage.
After my DX3 workshop this year, Toni Stratis and I chatted after and exchanged LinkedIn info. She’s now my newest 1:1 client. She posted about that here.
The reason is:
People are so excited by what they’ve just seen, these are the warmest leads you’ll ever get. So don’t run away after your talk is finished!
Hang out, shake hands, answer questions, take pics, and exchange LinkedIn contacts. This is where the magic happens.

Gob Bluth was the ultimate corporate speaker.
So what do I actually say during my CTA?
I’ll give you TWO versions of your CTA:
The simple version, and the one with Talkadot. Either way, make sure you add one of the in to the end of your next presentation!
The simple version
“Thank you so much everyone, for your time, attention, and excellent questions.
I’m going to hang out and grab a coffee, so please come ask me any questions we didn’t get to, or if you’re interested in learning more about what I do for individuals and teams, I’d love to chat.
I’ll leave you with this: (closer…)
Thank you.”
NOTE: This is very cookie cutter, so make it your own!

Everyone loves photographic evidence that they did a thing!
The Talkadot version
“Thank you so much everyone, for your time, attention, and excellent questions.
On this screen is a QR code, this will take you to a quick 5-minute survey which helps me out so much. After you answer the questions, it’ll let you download the (freebie/ebook/slide deck) which has tons of good stuff.
Please take a minute to do that now:
*wait
I’ll leave you with this: (closer…)
Thank you.”
Trust me, Talkadot works wonders, not just for leads, but for feedback.
In summation (does anyone say that anymore?):
End your talk with a CLOSER
But just before that, hit ‘em with your CALL TO ACTION
Use a Talkadot QR code to capture leads and feedback, or just tell them how to get in touch with you or where you’ll be hanging out after
That’s it for this week!
